American Idol John Stevens

John Stevens was born on July 28, 1987 in Buffalo, New York. He has been singing since he was four years old and has received voice lessons from a private teacher. As a crooner, John is also fond of playing the piano and hopes to become a great entertainer. John can also impersonate movie characters and singers. He is an avid fan of Frank Sinatra, and his taste in music became apparent when he auditioned for season 3 of American Idol. Simon is his favorite judge on the show, while Randy is his least. John thinks that an American Idol should not only be a role model but also be an amazing performer.

When John auditioned for season 3 of American Idol in New York City, he first entertained the judges with a Dean Martin impersonation while singing "That's Amore." He then crooned his way to Hollywood with his version of "The Way You Look Tonight." The judges were pleasantly surprised with his song choice and Simon was impressed with the uniqueness of his style. Among the songs he sang for the finals are "She's Always a Woman," "King of the Road," "My Girl," "Crocodile Rock" and "Mandy." When Jennifer Hudson was voted out before him, there was much criticism thrown his way, and the following week, the theme changed, from the supposed Big Band to Latin. John's poor peformance during Latin week sent him home a week before he had a chance to perform a song from his favorite genre. He was the sixth contestant voted off the show.

Currently living in East Amherst, New York, John released his first album, Red, in 2005 under Maverick Records. He has been likened to famous comedian Conan O' Brien because of his bright red hair and pale complexion. He left Maverick Records in order to go back school. He is studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
