American Idol Jasmine Trias

Jasmine Soriano Trias was born on November 3, 1986 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She grew up in Mililani in Central Oahu, but her parents are immigrants from the Philippine province of Tanza, Cavite. Jasmine studied at Maryknoll School, where she bagged a singing contest called Brown Bags to Stardom and a youth talent competition called Road to Fame. Jasmine started singing at around the same time she learned how to talk. She was a student at the Performing Artist Academy when she was 8. She stopped studying at the said school when she was 10, only to re-enroll four years later. Aside from singing, Jasmine also likes to play the piano, the guitar and the ukelele. She also has a talent in dancing, may it be to hip-hop or hula music.

Jasmine auditioned for season 3 of American Idol in Oahu, and like her fellow Filipina-American finalist Camille Velasco, was able to sail on through Hollywood and the semifinals, eventually landing a much-coveted spot on the Final 12. However, she made it farther than Camille, having made it to the Top 3 with other finalists Fantasia Barrino and Diana DeGarmo. Among the songs that she performed are "Everlasting Love," "The Way You Look Tonight," "I'll Never Love This Way Again," "Here We Are," "When I Fall In Love," and "You're All I Need To Get By." Her rendition of "Inseperable," garnered her much praise from the judges, but the following week brought much disappointment for Jasmine and her fans when she became the tenth finalist eliminated from the show.

Again, like Camille Velasco, Jasmine has gone on to attain great success after her elimination both in the United States and the Philippines. In the Philippines, Jasmine has appeared as a commercial model for McDonald's, Smart Telecommunications, Hapee Toothpaste and Bench. In Hawaii, Jasmine has worked as a spokesperson for different anti-smoking, anti-drinking and anti-drugs television campaigns. She is working under two record companies, one in Hawaii (Clockwork Entertainment) and one in the Philippines (Universal Records) in order to facilitate the release of her first album internationally.
